The Adventure Project (www.theadventureproject.org) is a nonprofit “adding venture” capital to create jobs in developing countries. Our organization fills a critical role in alleviating poverty by leveraging the power of a grassroots movement toward smart, cost-effective solutions that empower those living in extreme poverty to become profitable entrepreneurs, so they can serve their own communities with improved health, decreased hunger, a healthier environment, and clean water. The Adventure Project seeks to ensure a cycle of continual learning and improvement through the design and implementation of standard operating procedures and performance measurement systems, including real-time and impact evaluations.
At The Adventure Project, we believe that data-driven decision-making is essential to our organization’s success. The Impact Evaluation Manager will oversee research, data management, and analytics associated with TAP’s internal and external program efforts. The Impact Evaluation Manager will work collaboratively with TAP’s external program partners to craft and refine evaluation plans of key program initiatives in social entrepreneurship and its impact on hunger, health, water, and the environment.
The Impact Evaluation Manager will play a pivotal role in improving our system for program evaluation for the organization and will support key stakeholders in drawing insights from data to facilitate ongoing improvement across our programs. They are responsible for implementing and refining the suite of quantitative and qualitative tools used to track progress and outcomes against goals. This is an outstanding opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to social entrepreneurship and ending extreme poverty. The ideal candidate has a passion for transforming data into actionable insights that will in turn drive continuous improvement throughout the organization.
The successful candidate will be able to manage our entire portfolio of 12 local partners and the grant process from start to finish. In addition, this person will be successful in relaying the important work done monthly, quarterly, and annually to various stakeholders, from the internal team to the board of directors to our supporter base. Finally, the successful candidate will create a monitoring and evaluation system that can be a model for our partners and be widely shared with stakeholders. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and works closely with the Deputy Director as well as external tech and program partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and manage grant application submission process, budgets, and grant agreements;
Provide grant impact reports and updates for staff, executive board, and key stakeholders;
In collaboration with key stakeholders, define the set of key performance indicators aligned to TAP’s theory of change, program-specific models, and strategic plan;
Ensure that timely follow up is provided to make sure that deliverables are achieved, funding is spent, and that donor reporting is produced and submitted accurately and on schedule;
Design and execute visual evaluation dashboards that enable progress monitoring internally and externally (Akvo or Tableau experience preferred);
Perform data analysis and distill key findings that drive continuous improvement;
Build, implement and refine program evaluation tools that reliably measure the impact of TAP’s partners and programs;
Support knowledge sharing through the collection, compilation, and communication of relevant research, success stories, and/or lessons learned with external partners and key stakeholders;
Establish a consistent and efficient process for the full data life cycle - including collection, configuration, storage, analysis, and dissemination;
Fulfill data requests for various constituents as needed (Board, Leadership Team, Development Team, Communications Team, Program Team, external evaluators, etc.);
Conduct and/or coordinate research, data analysis and evaluation initiatives to gauge program effectiveness, support data-driven management, and assist in the design of new initiatives;
Develop data collection and program evaluation protocols, policies, templates, training, and tools.
Key Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
At least four to six years of experience, preferably in the social entrepreneurship field in developing countries;
Masters’ degree in development, program evaluation, policy analysis, quantitative methods, statistics, or related field is preferred;
Strong command of program evaluation principles and practices, including survey design and administration, qualitative and quantitative research methods, as well as experience working with theories of change and logic models;
Sophisticated and diverse analytical skills;
Strong knowledge of financial budgeting for program implementation. Ability to comprehend financial risks and investments;
Results-oriented with a track record of charting a clear course of action that requires both multi-disciplinary and complex team delivery with the measurement of results against goals;
